Diego Luna is not only one of the most prominent Mexicans in Hollywood, but he doesn’t forget his origins and his people. Along with another great Mexican actor (Gael García Bernal), they have a company that produces documentaries about the unsolved murders of more than 300 women in Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua.
Diego and Gael García Bernal are owners of Canana Films, through which they support the Ambulante documentary tour. It's a non-competitive documentary festival. This channel of the Mexicans owners Diego and Gael joins their ideas to promote the entire Mexican nation.
Today, Diego is a member of the WOLA board of directors, and in January 2015 he narrated a video made by it, "Forgotten on the Border," which shows the reality of Mexican migrant children fleeing north of the violence in his country.
It is very admirable to see how a Mexican doesn’t blind himself with so much fame and doesn’t leave aside the country that saw him grow up. Definitely an example of kindness and humility. Our independent nation waits for more people to work hand in hand to help our neighbour, our Mexican brother.

Introduction:
We all know Mexico in different ways, we are a country full of love, culture, colour and great diversity, our culture makes us envy many other countries and every day we are more proud of the simple fact of being Mexican.
Mexico is the cradle of the best talents. Talents that have crossed barriers and are currently conquering Hollywood, the home of cinema, artists such as Salma Hayek, Iñarritu, Cuaron, Monteverde, Del Toro and more proudly represent Mexico worldwide
But there is one in particular who has forged his career with a great feeling to the family, support for others, presence and love for his country, but with a term to spare: Talent, his name is Diego Luna, a man who has led to Mexico beyond the stars.
the mother who lies the most
Undoubtedly, one of the greatest inspirations of Diego Luna, not to mention the main one, is his mother.
Fiona Alexander was a great costume designer, member of the National Theater Company in Mexico, who died when Diego was just two years old. Throughout the years Diego has tried to portray his mother in each of his works, the more recent was a small short film propitiated by the Mexican cold chain "FUD" which helped to promote this short film, the short called "Your Mom Lies" became viral in a few hours, starting with the phrase "Everybody says that the mothers are wonderful, but how about if I tell you that all moms are liars. "
The short tells us that the lies that come from a mother are the noblest and acceptable possible, lie saying that everything is fine, lie saying that your child has grown more, lie saying that there are no problems and the most presented, lying saying that a mother will be with her son all her life.
In turn, in this short film, several Mexican mothers are represented equally but, what happens with the integration of a Tarahumara mother? Diego Luna says that the mothers can be represented in diverse ways, no matter how, like the love which came in different shapes and ways, the detail of putting also this mother it’s like the full show of an orchestra.
Another work related to the memory of his mother is "Only God knows" in which the love between a journalist and a student is narrated, In this film, Luna, incarnates a student journalist passionate about religion who through the film is relying more on himself than on his spiritual aspects
"I'm growing up, I cannot play kids anymore, this character looks like me in a lot of things, I think is close, talks about aspects that concern me and therefore it was simple and very joyful to do so, although in the end, his reality is different from mine, ", he said.
Among the similarities that Diego Luna found with his character, he mentioned that they are both mother's orphans. "We learned from that because it helped us grow well, I like the characters to be complete and complex, Damian faced things that make him very strong, just like him, I have not had the fortune of being a father, but I'm dying of desire”.
A dream that, nowadays, it’s true.
That’s how we can say that the personal life of someone can make a difference in something, like in this case, the death of Fiona Alexandra makes a difference in his works.
We think that every step on the life of Diego Luna, even when it was a terrible experience, it helped him to keep going, keep motivated to all the projects he wanted to do and helped him to became the man who is today, one of the Mexicans more talented in Hollywood, one of the Mexicans with more success in life, one of the Mexicans that are more admired and also, but not less impacting, that Mexican that has achieved more in his life even with the mother who lies the most.

His full name is
Diego Dionisio Luna Alexander and he made his debut in theater at the age of
six. It
was in a theatrical setting that Diego felt most comfortable for the first
time, motivated by wanting to be closer to his father, Alex Luna, theatrical set
designer and decorator.
Unfortunately Diego's mother died in a car accident when he was two years old, an event that brought him closer to his father, who was his refuge during this difficult time.
During the filming of 'The Night Buffalo', he met his wife, actress Camila Sodi, with whom he had a son named Jerónimo, born in 2008 and Fiona, born in 2010. In fact, for his participation in 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 'his sons Jeronimo and Fiona had to contemplate a confidentiality contract to enter the set.
He is a big fan of Mexican soccer, in fact, when he was very young he wanted to dedicate himself to soccer, he was an amateur of the Pumas of the UNAM and he played with Gael García Bernal; He has also shown interest in becoming a sports commentator: he did it when Televisa invited him to comment on a game between Pumas and America in the 2007 Clausura tournament.

Diego thinks that the actors should not have the ego so inflated since it is the director who marks his vision to achieve a good job.
For me, I think
that a good part of the public that likes cinematography and theater,
Diego Luna is a very strong exponent of what Mexico has to offer to the
whole world. He is a person very committed to his roles, without leaving his beautiful family aside. And if you do not believe me, just watch his participation on the big screen. A young not so young actor who still has a lot to give to this beautiful art.Unfortunately Diego's mother died in a car accident when he was two years old, an event that brought him closer to his father, who was his refuge during this difficult time.
