as Frida Kahlo, an inspiration for many women nowadays? Well, Salma Hayek, a
mexican actress, wasn’t afraid of doing this, and she is the best Frida Kahlo
we could every have seen on a screen.
Pacific and calm is the meaning of her name

She started from the bottom but in the last 90th Academy Awards she was nominated for Best Actress. Salma has shown that despite her hard life and all the obstacles that life has put her, she is a great actress, producer, mom and human being.
Salma Hayek: Frida in a mirror

On 2002, a drama film directed by Julie Taymor, came
out. It was about the life of the surrealist artist Frida Kahlo, starring Salma
Hayek.
With this movie, Salma got nominated for a Golden Camera Award for Best International Actress,
but didn’t win.
She had a very important and outstanding participation in this very
special film, and her nominations for all the awards are a clear prove for
this:
·
Oscar’s: Best Actress as Frida Kahlo
She also
sang La Bruja, a Mexican folk song that appears in the movie, with
band Los Vega.
But, what
is so important about her participation in this film that makes it very
special? On an interview Salma got asked why was it so important to her top lay
Frida on the film, an she said it was very special for her because Frida was
like her héroe when she was a little girl.
The mexican actress wants
to make people see Mexico the way it hasn’t been seen, saying our country is
the nucleus for many art movements, describing Frida as a unique
person, Hayek was amazed by being her in this movie because she was the type of
person that can take a very bad momento and see the good in it, and then
transform it in art.
Time
passed, and after the movie was released Salma confessed for “The New York
Times” that she had to say "no" to Weinstein when
he proposed to take a shower together and offered to give her a massage or oral
sex.
Hayek defines Weinstein as a "passionate cinephile, a daring man, a patron of the filmindustry, a loving father and a monster" and details the hell that involved working with him in the movie "Frida" in 2002.
Now, the Frida Kahlo’s dolls have arrived, in honor of the International Women’s Day, and Hayek seemed very upset after seeing this doll...
"Frida Kahlo never tried to be or look
like anyone else," wrote Hayek. "She celebrated her uniqueness. How could
they turn her into a Barbie?
So, what does it seem to you about Salma
representing her? Because for us, she is the perfect one for this role…
